Transiting Pluto conjunct Natal Ascendant: A Brand New Me

Thank your lucky stars (or, should I say, birth chart) if you happen to experience transiting Pluto conjunct your natal Ascendant. Yes, I said that right. This is an incredible opportunity! Remember that this is a transit that a lot of people go an entire lifetime without experiencing. So, it’s a rare event in a person’s life and you should take this transit as a sign of empowerment, instead of a time to crawl into a fetal position and curse your fate. Living to experience a transiting Pluto conjunct Ascendant transit means that you have been chosen by the Universe to radically transform.
And isn’t that a beautiful thing? How many people live their entire lives sticking to the same old script, never moving beyond what’s familiar yet ultimately disempowering? How many people simply live into old age complaining about how much their upbringing stunk and what a bad hand they were dealt? Well, if you get to experience transiting Pluto crossing your Ascendant, you have a chance to flip the script entirely. It’s a chance to become a whole new you who no longer lives by the rules and the expectations that once defined you.

To achieve this, though, Pluto has got to break you down. And he does it by entering your 12th House and staying there for a long time; years and years. The 12th House is where we have shoved those things that we were told, explicitly or implicitly, by our parental figures and other authorities were unacceptable. These are the things that we have repressed or denied or remained totally oblivious to over the years. And when Pluto is moving through your 12th House, all of that stuff gets dug up in a really powerful way. To be honest, it’s like your worst nightmare coming to life.

Whatever planets are in your natal 12th House, Pluto will bring some extreme situations into your life to wake you up to them. Got Uranus in your 12th? You’re going to be thrust into situations where you feel horribly misunderstood and alienated. Is the Moon in your 12th? You won’t be able to stop all the feelings from flowing out, to a point where all of your vulnerabilities will be exposed. Your 12th House planets will have nowhere to hide when transiting Pluto crosses them. And this might be a very scary, very painful time for you, when you deal with your deepest problems, anxieties, fears, and complexes, which you’ve been running so far away from throughout life. Well, it will be very scary and painful if you resist the process of facing the truth. Pluto transiting the 12th is often a real bottoming out, as if you’re an alcoholic who finally has to admit, after getting fired and evicted and divorced all because of your drinking, that you have a serious problem.

Now, in spite of it being so scary, the weight that’s lifted off of you is tremendous and eventually so peaceful! The things you’ve shoved into your 12th House are no longer things that you’re terrified of or uneasy with, once transiting Pluto crosses them. You no longer care that your parents or even society doesn’t approve of them. You are now learning to treat these qualities with an attitude of acceptance, forgiveness, and unconditional love. There will be a time when transiting Pluto is in the 12th and conjunct your Ascendant. This attitude will prevail during this time, especially if you have 12th House planets in the same sign as the Ascendant.

This prepares you for the point when transiting Pluto conjuncts your Ascendant to the exact degree. It’s a time of enormous changes in your life, releasing all of the baggage and all of the crap that has ceased to work for you. If that includes people, then so be it. Extreme letting go is the key theme of this transit, especially when Pluto’s still on the 12th House side. You must surrender everything that has prevented you from developing a fully authentic place in the world. Again, it might feel painful. But, Pluto doesn’t want any bullshit from you. It wants you to go very deep, figuring out how all of the most important resources are internal. So, when Pluto finally moves into your 1st House, you’ve got nothing else to lose. You are more of a force than you ever were before because now you don’t rely on the superficial trappings that everyone else gets so caught up in.

Transiting Pluto conjunct the Ascendant radically changes the expression of your Rising sign. Some sort of transformation has to occur here and it will be highly noticeable. People who knew you from several years ago, maybe even three or two years or only a year ago, might just give you a puzzled or stunned “what?” when it comes to your change in demeanor. The Ascendant is how we behave and it’s inevitable that a person will start behaving much differently once transiting Pluto hits their Ascendant, especially at the exact degree. Depending on the sign, and the person, it can be anything from really lightening up to getting really serious to being a lot more compassionate to displaying much more personal power. Our Ascendant can be too much of a performance, at times; a way to get approval that we learned as children. But, Pluto is telling you to screw all of that. You don’t need to perform anymore! Just be uncompromisingly authentic. Nothing better than that.

If you know a Capricorn Rising person, give them a good hug. They need it right now, or have needed it at one point in the past several years. Since Pluto is in Capricorn, every person alive with Capricorn Rising will be experiencing this transit, at some point, until it leaves Capricorn in about 2024. It’s been a deeply exhausting time for us Capricorn Rising folks but we’ve needed all of these struggles in order to achieve all the more psychological growth and renewed strength.

For those with the Ascendant in Capricorn, Pluto has been making them confront and transform ideas of success, failure, responsibility, structure, etc. Pluto in Capricorn is undeniably symbolized by the Recession which is still reverberating throughout society. How many people with Master’s Degrees are still having a rough time? Pluto has been exposing to the world, since about 2009, how false our ideas of success and status and recognition are. That has been hitting Capricorn Rising people hard; the majority of whom, I bet, have suffered some devastating setbacks and have painfully fallen short of their goals. But, that’s the problem with this Rising sign. There’s too much of a plan, too much emphasis on worldly gain. Pluto is teaching Capricorn Rising people to base their place in the world on something much deeper than what they have in their pockets or how far they’ve climbed up the ladder. The lesson for us now is that failure is only a matter of perception.

Capricorn is famous for loosening up as they age. This is probably the transformation that most Capricorn Rising folks are feeling, thanks to Pluto crossing their Ascendant. They are learning to destroy the idea that they always have to measure up, that they can never slip up and show the chinks in their armor. With Sagittarius as the 12th House Cusp, Capricorn Ascendant people have had to hide their looser, more casual side while growing up in order to conform to the expectation of their environment that they must be responsible; usually responsible for the parents in some psychological way. Now, that harsh, judgmental voice is being killed off. As excruciating as it might have been to stumble so hard during these years, Capricorn Rising is seeing that they have the maturity and resilience to recover, as well as to simply laugh at themselves in the process. They are finding an amazing freedom (Sagittarius) from all of these mental restrictions (Capricorn).

The Rising sign can never just go away, of course. It’ll always be there. Capricorn Ascendant will always be purposeful and mature and have a very accomplished, respectable air. But, the rigidity and the graveness that they can be known for is (hopefully) being killed off by transiting Pluto, in order for them to be truly liberated and empowered. Instead of being all business, they are adopting a more business-casual style of making their way through the world. After all, that over-seriousness is usually just a result of insecurity. With Pluto on their side, Capricorn Rising is learning that they have nothing to be scared of anymore and that they’re secure in their inner power.

That can also rid them of the pessimism that might haunt their days. Capricorn Rising can expect the worst way too often. Transiting Pluto is showing them the boomerang effect of their negative thoughts, urging them to trust that they are strong enough and capable enough to survive anything that comes their way. So, if you have this Ascendant, you may be finding yourself feeling more positive than ever. Again, hopefully, you are. Transits can go either way. People can really take advantage of them and learn from them or they can simply wallow and complain their way through the negative ones without being proactive at all. I hope you’re doing the former, not the latter. Take advantage of this knowledge available to you via astrology. It gives you an upper hand.

Only if you’re in the teenage to forty-something age range and you have Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, or Taurus Rising (depending on your age) will you be next in line to experience transiting Pluto conjunct the Ascendant. I do think we choose the charts we have during this lifetime to really learn something and change our ways. So, you incarnated in this lifetime and chose that Ascendant so you can experience this phenomenal transformation. Don’t be terrified of it. Embrace it.

  1. Aaaarg cap rising here .. Reporting from the shadow lands . I love your article . I got into astrology because of this transit .. Like you said everything stripped . My job , relationship , my father dyeing , depression , break down and lots of tears . I did manage to paint my way through it . I find myself 2 yrs later in a very different place but the theme of stripping in sometimes humiliating ways has been consistent . I'm just getting better at letting go earlier . I have Venus square Pluto and saturn in my 1st house as well as Mercury I'm interested in how this will affect these planets ? I love your work ! I found your website last night and I've read almost every article ! Thank you

    1. Oh, well, thanks! What degree is your Rising sign in? Is Pluto still conjunct, in the 12th or the 1st? That can make a significant difference. It's going to take a few more years for him to finally move into my 1st and I'll be having my Saturn Return by then! The fun will never stop. :) But, since the retrograde, I feel like I've gained a lot of clarity and like I'm coming to peace with all the difficult stuff of the past few years. So, yes, letting go is crucial.

  2. I'm so happy I found your blog this evening! I'm curious about your opinion of what happens when Pluto transits across a person's mid heaven. My mid heaven is 13 Cap on the cusp of the 9th and 10th house, conjunct Jupiter at 14 Cap, and north node 16 Cap. I became a mother when Pluto was at 4 Cap., do you think this is close enough to have been an influence of that transit? It's important that I always thought I could not have children, so she is definitely my miracle baby! Also my father passed away 16 months ago. I know for sure the timing for that was within zap range. Honestly, I will be happy when Pluto moves on. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  3. You know I've read several (You Tubes as well) interpretations of Pluto transiting the Ascendant, And I think your's is one of the most detailed and really thoughtful I've run across. It was also timely, in that I have Cap (16º16') Rising. So it was within 1º of my ASC back March of this year that my only child passed. Prior to that I had a Triple bypass 4 months prior (Nov. 2014) - even though I worked out 3 to 4 times a week, weighed 160 lbs, don't smoke, and had no history of heart disease. Then in February of 2014 my Dad passed away, and then as I said before, we lost my only son Alex (drug overdose) on March 7th, 2 weeks before my Birthday on March 24th,
'51 and 3 weeks before his on April 1st, '93.
Obviously I'm going through some serious times. So even though I will have a brief glimpse of my 1st house in January of 2016, I will then retro back into the 12th
by August but then be back in for good (I think) in time for Christmas of 2016, Yay!
Besides the depression of the loss of Alex, and my Dad. My marriage of 36 years is in trouble as well. I will admit, I'm seeing someone I have known for nearly as long as my wife (whom I still love) but who doesn't really seem to be interested in me. So I have multiple issues.I've had natal readings before and I've been doing astrology myself since the 80's, but I need someone that has more insight than I do. Like I said, your take on Pluto transiting the Asc and Capricorn in particular impressed me enough to see what you thought. I was originally going to have Adam Sommer do the reading but before I pulled the trigger, he reniged with another gig. In the meantime I got cold feet, so here I am. Besides my birth time, I have the birth times of my wife and my lover, and my son. If you could factor them in (btw,I love both these women & and I am a scoundrel)! My question is, is this outside your scope? It involves some Natal, some transit, and some relationship, initially. And then we could drill in from there, depending how it developes. Does that sound doable? I need to understand where I'm going because right now I feel like I'm flying blind! So, what kind of a reading would you recommend, and what would be the damage be, if I can be so bold? Thanks so much for your time, and regardless of your opinion I'll continue to read your posts. they are top notch!

    1. Hi, Douglas. Thanks for sharing your story and I'm sorry for your losses. Pluto's lessons can be brutal but those wounds can bring a beautiful strength, through natal or transit aspects.

Also, remember that as Pluto conjuncts your Ascendant, it's opposing your Descendant. So, radical changes and losses regarding other people usually occur during this transit, whether it's through actual death or estrangement or separations. The Descendant represents marriage, as well, so these issues between you and your wife are bringing up a lot of nitty gritty stuff. But, it can also bring amazing rebirth between you two.

I'd love to do as many readings you'd want and whichever ones. You can click on the blue image at the top right and check out the prices for the different ones and get the ones you'd like.

  4. Wayman, thanks for your response! I gather and appreciate that yo're not a "cut & paste" kind of guy, but really look to integrate the whole picture. Do you by any chance have and examples of what your Transit reading is like? And what time range do you look at?
    Thanks again,

    Doug

    1. Yeah, thanks. I'm definitely about synthesis. I feel like that's unique and that's what makes my readings valuable. I'd hate to be taking people's money for something that they could get anywhere online for free.

I unfortunately don't have any samples of my transit readings. I just have old clients' readings, which I wouldn't want to share with anyone else. But, the way I do it is interpreting the aspects and then the planets moving through your houses.

I actually don't like setting a time frame because I feel like that'd be a huge headache. Haha, because certain transits change once a week or a few weeks and doing a report for the next few months or so just sounds exhausting. But, I basically look at the transits that are happening the day after I send your report and I will give you an estimate of how long they'll last. I think that's a better way to look at transits because thinking too far ahead kind of prevents you from fully living your life, if that makes sense.

    2. Wayman, could we do a transit reading that would begin in Sept. of 20114 and then go forward from there? There are several (critical) dates I could provide between last Sept. to now, that would help me understand where I'm headed. Would that be acceptable? What do you think?

  5. Hi , so I have natal cap rising at 8 degrees with Pluto now at 13 degrees transiting my first house . As I said earlier when Pluto hit my ascendant a few years ago my life broke apart . I also have Venus and Mercury in my very wide orb first house . I still feel this transit really strongly is this transit still rippling through my life ? Even though it's past the ascendant degree ?

    1. Yes, because it's still conjunct your Ascendant and will be until it's about 17 degrees, which will be for the next couple of years still.

    1. Hi, Douglas. I think you'll still be able to feel transiting Pluto when it's up to 8 or 9 degrees away from any planet or point in your chart.

And I'm sorry I didn't respond to you on Facebook. It's a semi-long story but I only have that profile so I could make a page for the promotion of this creative project I'm doing. I never, ever use the personal one, so it'd be useless to be friends with me on there (I literally have zero friends on that profile). I don't like Facebook but right now, it's a somewhat necessary evil, haha.

  7. Good morning, I'm 38 and writing from Italy...I'm living in fear because Pluto is going to conjunct my brother ascendant; at the same time it will make a trine to my mother moon in Taurus in fifth house (ruler of eighth house!); 2 my Best friends will receive pluto square to their sun in 11th house...and other people around me will receive similar transits...I think I'm going to die in february 2016 and I'm living in terror...how can I deal with this? I'm desperate...

    1. No astrologer can ever, ever tell you when you're going to die. They used to do that back in the old days but astrology was very fatalistic back then. Pluto transits or 8th House transits can, unfortunately, sometimes mean death. But, it's not always literal death. It's often just metaphorical: letting go, change.

I am a Cancer with a 19 degree Capricorn rising. I am experiencing such anxiety and fear to the point that I honestly don't know who I am these days. I feel like I am on the verge of a breakdown or is it a breakthrough? I know that Pluto will not hit my exact degree for a few years yet, but is this how I can expect to feel till then?

I lost my ex husband on a horrible accident leaving my child without a father lost my father lost my 6 year job crashed twice, lost 35 pounds need a say more? My question is this now how do take advantage of this Pluto transit 1 st house? I can't seem to find a job I'm well prepared so it's frustrated !! 10. Pluto crossed my ascendant today! 13 11" cap rising. Pluto in the 12 th was brutal and I AM letting go of negative thought patterns and habits that I've had for years. I am feeling a little more positive and empowered and less like a worldly failure. I want to take advantage of the Pluto opportunities. Not exactly sure how but I have been able to see where my work is. I have natal Saturn opposing my Sun AND mercury... it ain't easy! This is one of the best explanations and descriptions I've found. Thank you :-)

  11. thank you, may pluto rise and shine! the last degrees for me, cap 15, sun also in cap 09,54; unknown father died, a half brother and half sister richer at 50, economical crisis, professional crisis, relational crisis, psychological crisis, spiritual crisis, emotional crisis yes all of that is sure leaving transformative yearning … would you suggest any ritual for the last degrees in 12th house? Burning it down?

    1. It's the time to know that you have to let everything go and embrace your new beginning. Finishing Pluto's clean-up of your 12th means allowing anything self-destructive or self-deluding to be transformed. Then, you can really start over.

  12. This is very interesting, thank you! In the mid-1980s Pluto transited my Scorpio Ascendant. My life as I knew it came to an end. My question is does this happen a second time in one's life? Or, is this once and only once?

    1. Hi, Stephen. Yes, it'll happen only once because Pluto moves so slowly. It won't be in Scorpio again in your lifetime.

  13. Pluto is conjunct my 17 degree Capricorn Ascendent now. My Capricorn Moon is at 9 degrees. My dreams are upended, and my habit of looking back for answers is not working, to put it mildly. Your post is giving me an optimism I need to weather this ... and make the most of the transformative. I like what you wrote here: "Our Ascendant can be too much of a performance, at times; a way to get approval that we learned as children. But, Pluto is telling you to screw all of that. You don’t need to perform anymore! Just be uncompromisingly authentic. Nothing better than that." I've just turned 68, too much performance has worn me out. What is next, and better. Letting go completely. Wheww. Saturn in Sag is about 'real education' so let's see what that unfurls!

  14. How will pluto impact aquarius risings? Bc i've been reading a couple of articles and basically it says, or implies, that machines will take over and social, intellect, and relationships between groups will radically change....?!

    1. This took forever for me to reply to. Sorry, I just saw it. But, I really hope nothing too disastrous happens. Some people make Pluto in Aquarius sound like it's going to be a dystopia or something. I don't know if it will get that dramatic.

However, Pluto always brings certain crises or tragedies in the area of the sign it's transiting. It just causes a shift in awareness. That's why the economy got so screwed up as soon as Pluto went into Capricorn. My guess is that some crises with technology could occur that could teach us to not be so dependent on it. We will probably learn the true power technology is holding over us through some significant breakdown with it.

For Aquarius Rising people, you guys will be empowered by the opportunity to step up to the plate and really usher us into a New Age. I think you all are going to be pushed to become real revolutionaries during this transit. In some way or another, massive changes will occur to really propel us into the future and Aquarius Risings will have to learn how to use their power to help this process. But, I can only predict, at this point.

    1. I'm 18 degrees Capricorn Rising, so I'm right there with you. I would tell you to not be scared. I personally think that Pluto transiting the 12th is the truly scary experience. I know that from the past few years. At a certain point, it's like living out a nightmare. I think Pluto transiting the 1st is just about becoming empowered and getting to use that power. After everything that's happened to you while Pluto was in your 12th, your life is now cleared out and you can be reborn.

It also looks like you're going to be in your second Saturn Return once it goes exact. Transiting Saturn won't be exactly conjunct your natal Saturn at that time (that'll take another year or so) but it'll be in the same sign, which is still strongly felt.

So, it's going to be a really powerful time for you. Lots of opportunities to redefine yourself, discover a new strength, gain a new perspective. It seems like your life is going to change in an amazing way, if you don't resist the transformations that are happening.

    1. You're welcome! Please hang in there. You're nearing the light at the end of the tunnel. Once Pluto leaves your 12th House, everything you've been through will make more sense. The 12th House is about aloneness so it's a lonely transit. But find ways to gain strength from that.

  17. Hi,
It's a very insightful article and comment section has been very informative as well. I'm a Capricorn Rising and I have gone through similar kind of experiences in past few years, particularly last year.
I ll have Pluto hitting my Asc at 16.13 on Feb 6th 2016 along with a transiting venus. Then Pluto retrogrades after a few months goes back into 12th and finally crosses my Asc for the final time some time before 2017 begins.
At this point I have nothing to lose and for whatever I'm left with I don't care if I lose 'em. Then how do I see these 3 hits? I have heard the 2nd hit brings the darkest part of Pluto transit where you don't even know what's happening with you.
Where else am I supposed suffer? Losing this body? Can you help with those 3 exact hits and how to interpret them, please

  18. There is another catch in my peculiar situation. That is my sun is conjunct my ascendant too(16.57 Cap)
All my nightmares coming true has changed every possible old ways of looking at my life. Pluto's Transit to Sun has a lot of contribution to that, I guess. Pluto in 1st house with whatever pragmatic positivity it's bringing after all my losses (which I'm willing to work with), conjuncting the Sun soon after! What should I look forward to?

  21. WOW! I googled out this article yesterday after I had a look at my transits after years! And what did I find? That yesterday Pluto just hit the tighthest conjunct with my ASC in Capricorn. I abandoned astrology years ago for studying economics at university and after probing deeper into the past, I found out that I abandoned astrology at the time when transiting Pluto entered my 12th house. Now I understand why, I had to let go of it, because it was giving me a kind of false security for making the right decisions in my life. Then I had to come out of the closet, I had a serious illness and my father died and all of it changed me substantially. And now that my Pluto has hit my ASC, I am changing my job after 6 years! :)

  23. Hello,
I have Cap Rising @ 24'47. My nightmare was brought to my attention Dec 2015 when I reported a girl for threatening to let her ex bf die on duty. Ive been in law enforcement since 2001. In retalliation for me reporting her she gave my superiors screenshots of a conversation we had in Nov in which I was venting about my boss & all the women he's having affairs with @ work. I was immediately placed on paid administrative leave. My badge was taken from me and Im not to leave my home Mon-Fri 8-5pm unless I ask for permission. Everyone at work abandoned me. All of my "really good friends" turned on me. Ive had several breakdowns, spiritual, emotional. Ive gained weight from the stress and loneliness. Now my marriage is suffering. My husbands complaining that Im too jealous/possessive. We started marriage counseling. My 21 yr old daughter stopped speaking to me in 2013. My 19 yr old ran away from home with a guy 10 yrs older, got pregnant had the baby & is now in an extremely abusive relationship but she refuses to let me help her leave him. Ive been praying constantly since this started. I have been very close to suicide 4x. I feel crazy. Alone. Invisible. Like I dont matter. Expendable. Would anyone be able to tell me when Pluto will be out of Capricorn? Thanks in advance.

    1. It sounds like Pluto is right in the middle of your 12th House. That's the hardest part of this transit, looking back from personal experience, because it's the time where it can feel like there's no way out. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, once it gets close to the end of your 12th House. You just have to hang on, at the risk of sounding cheesy.

You don't even realize it now but you are deeply powerful right now. It's just that this power is being forced inward, by various circumstances. Right now, you're learning how to be powerful in the midst of nothingness or of losing everything. So, once Pluto goes into the 1st, it's like you'll be re-born as more of a powerhouse than you ever once thought you were. For you, there will be a few more years until this happens.

But, as hard as it is, you just need to find a way to maintain your grip during this time, as well as let go of what needs to be let go of. After a while, it stops feeling traumatic and actually starts feeling peaceful, like you deeply understand everything in a way that you didn't before. I'd also remind you that it is very easy to play the victim right now and if you allow yourself to, you will attract worse and worse situations. 12th House transits can make us shoot ourselves in the foot, if we live them out unconsciously. So, if you remain blind to your power in the situation, you will keep feeling more and more powerless until you're forced to wake up.

  24. Hello, I am very grateful to have found this post. I'm from Colombia, a few days ago I turned 18, and my ascendant is Capricorn. Actually these last three years I lost many friends who believed unconditional, pets, hobbies, and interests. And since not very welcome thoughts are smothering my mind, before I was very sociable and talkative, now I just want to get home to lock myself in my solitude, it is difficult for me to make friends, and keep a lively conversation.
When Pluto transiting my house 12 felt like those childhood traumas came to me again and I realized that something is wrong with me, something happens to me, some psychological problem. I thought about seeking professional help as I've thought about killing myself, I'm in college and live alone and was not easy to wake up crying half the night was the worst.
I'm in a relationship of 1 year and 7 months, and in the last three months has been complicated because in my house with pluton 1, can not control jealousy, possessiveness, anger, hurtful comments. But I know it's time to drop those habits and that person, because he also hurting me.
It's been really hard with my age being forced to mature and self-sufficient, there are days when I just want to disappear completely. I have the natal Moon in Sagittarius in house 12, and with this transit of Pluto took a habit of making short trips to think, and to have planned a trip especially to disappear. I need help and I know. I appreciate very much the information you have reflected on this blog, has served me well.

    1. I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. Your life matters. I'm going thru similar things, as I also have a Capricorn ascendant, and also sometimes feel very hopeless and overwhelmed. But reading this article is very helpful. Having a big picture perspective helps, as does knowing that there will be positive transformation. I hope this provides you with some hope, too.

  25. What a post! I have a strange issue. I go by the Whole system chart and according to this system, Pluto is deep into my 12th house and I have been having my past coming back to haunt me every which way. I am an Aquarius Rising, with Virgo Sun in the 8th. I have my Sun, Mercury, Mars, Pluto in the 8th, Uranus in Libra conjuncts my Sun from the 9th and Pluto conjuncts my Sun in the 8th. BUT if I go back to the Placidus chart, it shows that Pluto is just two degrees from going into my 12th. And this backs my chart to my Virgo planets in the 7th house. My ASC is Aquarius 19* with the Placidus chart. I feel like I have been in a war zone for many years now, but to look at my chart in the Placidus style, it says that I am just beginning to go through hell. So, which is right?

    1. I don't remotely trust Whole House, to be honest. It's way too simple-minded. I always go with Placidus. Also, you might want to check and see if transiting Pluto is making any aspects to your planets. Also, you're a Virgo Sun, so Neptune in Pisces might be hitting you hard. So, you may be confusing that stuff with the transiting Pluto in the 12th issues. Because, in my opinion, you're imminently approaching this transit but not in it yet (if transiting Pluto's two degrees away from the 12th).

    2. Oh boy. I know Neptune is driving me crazy! Being a clear minded strong Virgo and having my mind clouded by Neptune is awful! What do you think about the Equal house system? But that still says I haven't even begun my Pluto through the 12th house. Another question, is a Pluto transit of the 12th as bad for a Plutonian?

  26. So happy to find this blog. While I recognize the spiritual growth us significant, honestly, I don't know how much more of this I can endure. Like the very first comment person, I have been stripped of everything: divorce, my pets all died, foreclosure, bankruptcy, 401, employment, health (including 2 visits to the ICU), even my teeth. And yes I am one of those MBA's who is still searching for a job ( being 51 and female there is discrimination). I have one living relative (a Capi) who also has had health / bankruptcy and everyone else has died. If I didn't have my two kids, I would check out of this life. It's been 8 long years. Does it ever end? Do I ever get a chance to rebuild my life as the new, kinder, humbler woman I've become? I keep trying to stay positive and take actions to get on with it...but keep getting kicked to the floor. I have no assets, no one, no money but at least my physical health is back. When will it end??? (Oct.16, 1964, 2:03pm, Pittsburgh, Penn.)

  27. Hello wayman,
I was wondering if you could say anything about kids dealing with this transit?
My friends son is 5 years old with Pluto in 12th in his natal chart. Pluto is conjunct his asc right now. I can see he is having a hard time, and has had for a while. He's a very serieus boy. a time to let go and 'transform' sounds so big for a little boy. I was wondering if you have any experience with kids Going/been throug this since i love to find a way to support him.

    Thank you so much!
    Well written article!!

    1. My son is five and going through the same thing! These poor little boys.

I've been wondering the same thing about my son. Of course, they'll have their good days and bad days. Usually it means something very transformative will be happening to them at a young age. Not necessarily anything "bad", of course.

My step daughter, who will be 20 this year, also had her Pluto conjunct her ascendant at a young age. She had particularly difficult early years. I think the most important thing for these kids (as with all kids) is to be very aware of their moods, try to be a grounding influence and make sure they know they're loved and being actively listened to. All kids have different temperaments of course and their whole chart needs to be taken into consideration :)

    2. Good to hear from someone who knows a kid who's going to the same thing. Tnx gor your reply. Most texts are written for an adult chart.
And i agrea everyone and every kid is an individuaIl. I think it is very helpfull to look at it as a kid going trough a 'rough' time and not seeing it as a 'rough' kid;) cause that is kind of trickie when this is how they start their life. (i love astrology for helping to see things that way)
The boy i know also has a capricorn sun (1th house) also mars in capricorn in 1th and an aries moon. He's frustrated, tensed, very serieus and gets fysically easily. You can see him struggling with himself and because of the agression he gets a lot of negativity back. It really hurts me to see him go trough this. So im trying to help my friend who also is having a hard time. Understanding that he is going trough something and seeing it apart from his personality (in a way) i believe will lift some weight and give some light.

I would love to hear more experiences with kids going trough this is anyone what's to share. ❤️ Kids

  28. Gosh this is good. Pluto has just landed back to be exactly conjunct my 15 cap Asc.
I'm a scorp and 61. Letting go letting go, walking away from so much. Feel the veil between life & the other side is very thin. Not in a bad way but finding it hard to take a lot of the everyday bs seriously.

  29. I'm curious to know what you feel about the progressed ascendant hitting Pluto, and then Pluto moving into the progressed twelfth house. Trust me, I'm feeling all of the above.

  30. Pluto transiting my Ascendent (Libra) is not something I will ever experience in my lifetime, but am I right in think that it would have run from 1963-1978 last time? If so, funny that it should have occured during a time when divorce suddenly became far more common and the Pill became widely available...Plutonian influence in Libra?

    Replies
    1. Yep, those were definitely effects of Pluto being in Libra! And that transit occurred from about 1972 to 1983.

    2. Erm Pluto is retrograde rn in Capricorn... Would that change anything?

  31. A degree retrograde from my ascendant.
Also I am sure you having those too

  33. Thank you so much for your insightful post. I will need read it a few more times. I’m from Cape Town South Africa – not that my location shielded me from Pluto conjunct Capricorn Asc! I just Googled to see when Pluto is going to go beyond 7° from my Asc – and now I see Pluto is going retrograde again. Alas, it’s not over yet.
My Asc is at 10° Capricorn. Natal Sun, Mercury, Venus, Neptune all conjunct in Scorpio in 11th. Uranus, Pluto, Moon conjunct in Virgo in 9th. So lots of Scorpio going on. Nothing in the 12th or 1st.
I lost everything in the last few years – my smart career, big house and 32 year relationship/marriage and now I avoid friends and people. I’m 53 so how can I ever be the same again after this Pluto/Asc. I’m wryly smiling as I am writing this.  Nearly done. Then I’ll see where to from there. 

    1. I think the theme for Scorpio influenced planets folks is stripping away what you love , whom you love and as Wayman says , confront yourself and accept all that and no matter what , hang in there.. find that ONE thing no matter how little and hold on to it.. do something , anything abt your work or find a girl to start all over again just talk to strangers , anyone could help you.. and I also think your impending Saturn Return will have similar themes and this is a prelude of it Alfred.. (Wayman's Article on Saturn return speaking) Time to reassess and see where Saturn's lesson was 1st time around and how hard you have worked on them and what can you do between now and the next 5, 6 years to tackle/handle Saturn with more purpose and personal power

  34. I like your positive spin on Pluto conjunct ASC but have you actually had it happen to you? I have yet to see any positives. As I'm writing this Pluto is once again conjunct my ASC - and yes, I have Capricorn rising. I'm going to be 52 in 3 weeks. When does the pummeling stop and let me start my new life??
Over the past 12 years, I lost my 37 yr old younger sister, my 19 yr marriage, my big home, my six figure job job, went thru bankruptcy, lost all of my savings and retirement money, 2 cats and a dog, then lost another job due to health, had surgery which had complications that left me unable to eat and I became emaciated, had corrective surgery, then almost died from sepsis and in ICU for 2 wks, 2 months later more ICU and almost died again from gangrene, then had to have all of my teeth removed and had to move in with my 80 yr old mother (Capricorn sun) who then ended up having 2 hip replacements, and then broke her neck and went thru bankruptcy. In the midst of all this. I actually DID go back to school and earn my MBA but am now encountering age discrimination and am unable to find a job. I also lost my boyfriend of 6 years who I was sure was going to become my husband. I literally have no assets, net worth and no benefactors or family. I'm totally wiped out. When will this end? I'm too broke to get a solar return reading done for the first time in 25 yrs. Ugh. Any insight or advice on how to figure out when this will let up would be very much appreciated. My info: 10/16/64, 2:03pm, Pittsburgh (city), PA.

    1. I am very sorry for all you have been through. But, as crazy as it may sound, all of this loss is happening for your benefit. You are losing everything in order to be truly, deeply empowered and realize that real strength comes from deep inside and can never ever be taken away. I think the sooner a person realizes this during this transit, the less negativity or pain they will attract. Then they can focus on being reborn. But the more you remain stuck and powerless, the harder it will be.

And yes I am going through it right now. Pluto is finally reaching the end of my 12th. Things have gotten better and better for me, in the past year, because I had to do exactly what I am telling you.

It is far from easy. But I do think this transit is a very beautiful gift, once you transform it. So many people in life are so defined by their material things or other people. It takes real strength to remain whole even when you don't have those things.

  35. Oh I am gonna have so much "fun" in the next couple of years. Not only my ascendant is in Capricorn... my sun, moon and Mercury are also in Capricorn (they pretty much all conjunct together). I guess I am in for a major transformation!

  37. Hi Wayman , to

Cap Rising @ 8°39'48 . I am a living testimony to all that you have condensed into words in this article. Between 2009 to 2012 Jan I was broken over and over again and I had lost all hope in life, people , family and had nobody and nothing to live for.

And with the help of work and focusing on it and a little encouragement from a foe turned friend , I turned it all around. I was broke again from 2014 November till 2016 April , saturn return , lost a Job , gained a better one and lost it again despite being damn good at it. power struggles at work and left job again in Aug 2016 , got another one a better one and have been reading your articles since Dec 2014 helping me gain better insights..

Qsn is Pluto is 7°32'34 at Scorpio natally conjunct Sun @ 13°28'24 both in 10th House and now the transitting Pluto is in 1st house , Is there more chances of such experiences in store till Pluto leaves my 1st house Cap Rising @ 8°39'48 and my natal Neptune Capricorn @3°46'11 in house 12 and Moon @ Capricorn 7°53'34 end of house 12??

Isnt it strange that Sun , venus , mercury(R) and pluto are in Same sign : Scorpio in House 10 (Capricorn'ss)with Sun , Pluto and Venus in House 10 and Mercury at house 11 and My Saturn in Sagittarius in house 11 and Capricorn is my 1st house??
