The Chart Ruler: Pisces Rising (Neptune/Jupiter)

The next Rising sign I’m tackling in this chart ruler series is Pisces Rising. Now, what is the chart ruler? It’s the planet that rules your Ascendant sign, not the most dominant planet in your chart (which is a pretty common misconception). Since the Ascendant tells you how your life is going to unfold, your chart ruler, in many ways, is your life. If you wrote a biography, this would be the general tone of it, how one chapter progresses into the next chapter. Therefore, understanding your chart ruler is important when it comes to understanding just what kind of “story” you’ve written for your life. We all do this and we all have ways in which we need to change that story.

Yet, with a Pisces Ascendant, just what is your story? Well, Pisces is unique in that it is, along with Scorpio and Aquarius, technically ruled by two planets. Pisces’ modern-day ruler is Neptune but its traditional ruler is Jupiter. As I’ve been saying, I think the modern-day ruler for these three signs makes for a perfect match. I feel like Pluto aligns with Scorpio more powerfully than Mars and that Uranus is a much better fit for Aquarius than Saturn. Likewise, I feel like Neptune is the absolute ruler of Pisces. However, as with the other two signs, the traditional ruler still has a subtle say and its Return marks a pivotal time in the person’s life.

However, we are going to mainly be looking at Neptune here. What is your life story when Neptune is your chart ruler? Neptune is nonlinear, imaginative, shape-shifting, and elusive. So, you can get many Pisces Rising people who don’t really know their story. In fact, “I don’t know” is a phrase you will regularly hear coming from many Pisces Ascendants. “I don’t know” or “I guess” or “maybe” can be their go-to responses, as they have this outlook on life that is never exactly clear. Therefore, with this Rising sign, you can sometimes look back on your life and draw something of a blank. What does it all mean? Nothing! This is something that haunts those with this placement: a feeling that life is just confusing and meaningless. But, due to the unconscious quality of Neptune, this is also something that they may not be able to articulate or even be aware of.

With Neptune as the chart ruler, life can be lived half-asleep, much of the time. It’s why Pisces Rising people often have that sleepy look about them. One’s resting face is largely determined by their chart ruler/Rising sign. It’s the way you look without really even trying. And with this placement, your default expression makes you seem as if you’re about to doze off or as if you’re not really here. The dazed-and-confused look is a signature of the Pisces Ascendant, as is this mesmerized expression, as if something or someone is hypnotizing you. You’ll regularly end up hypnotizing others, though, especially with those dreamy eyes of yours. This is an Ascendant that regularly gives a person such vividly expressive eyes that they almost look cartoonish, like an anime character. Whether big or small, your eyes are especially a window to your soul.

But, they are also a window to everyone’s soul. Neptune is the great reflector, serving as a mirror for humanity through its sense of oneness. Therefore, when people look at you, they can easily see themselves in some eerie way. This is why you can also create a life story for yourself that is not your own. The “script” that Pisces Rising people write for themselves can end up sounding like an actual screenplay. You easily feel like your life is a movie, not exactly with the dramatic self-absorption that a Leo Rising can. It’s more so because of how imaginative and empathetic you are. Whatever character you want to be, you will shape your life in order to be it, getting into the role like an actor. If you want an inspirational life story, you will be that character. If you think life is always victimizing you, you will be that character. And if you want to live life like a constant journey toward redemption, you’ll write that script for yourself. There really are no boundaries.

Sometimes, you might even plagiarize someone else’s story. The Ascendant is the role you play and, clearly, you have no rigidly defined role. So, you can internalize the point of view of anyone around you. I think more than any other Rising sign, it’s the Pisces Rising who is very prone to people rubbing off on them. Yet, it can all end up becoming very confusing when you stop and have the terrifying feeling that you’re a fraud. Neptune, in its negative form, can represent deception. I’m not saying this Ascendant makes you a horrible liar. But, it does mean that, more than the average person, you are far more than you present yourself to be. You might not even be who you present yourself to be at all. Just who you are, anyway? Such a perspective can haunt you. It’s like you are looking at this image of life and it all just shatters, leaving you bewildered.

The house that Neptune is in shows how this feeling of disillusion can play out. Since it’s a slow-moving outer planet, the majority of living people nowadays with this placement will have Neptune in one of the latter six houses of their chart. Neptune may be in the 9th, leading you to live out a series of disillusionments in regard to your sense of direction and inner guidance, your freedom, and your conviction. Neptune might be in the 10th, showing that you can feel disillusioned when it comes to your calling in life, your status/reputation in your community, and your goals. But, fear not. You are not meant to remain stuck in this feeling of disenchantment. I feel like this happens to every Pisces Rising person in order for them to release any attachment to any specific role, allowing them to realize the blissful sense of oneness they can feel when they embrace all the roles.

If the Ascendant tells us how we came into this life, having a Pisces Rising means that your entry into the world was not a clear-cut one. It’s common for people born with this placement to be delivered while their mother is really out-of-it and drugged, halfway present and halfway somewhere else. These babies are often easy births, mostly for that reason, but the process of labor can sometimes be very under-the-radar. Maybe only a few people knew about it and showed up. So, the Pisces Ascendant child’s first experiences are often of being invisible or undetected. Not necessarily neglected, although it can happen in some cases. It’s more so that you learned to deal with new experiences in a very seamless, subtle way, instead of forcing yourself on to them.

Your early environment could have made you feel forgotten about, sometimes. But, this was often because you just as easily forgot where you were. Pisces Rising children can so easily get lost in their imaginations. This, combined with the fact that go-with-the-flow Neptune made you a particularly undemanding, unfussy child, meant that you could readily just disappear. Growing up, your parents or siblings may have regularly had to ask what you were up to and if you were okay, even if, or especially if, you were just at home. You’d be off in your room, totally wrapped up in TV shows or movies or maybe in creating your own stories and worlds. I’d be very surprised to see a Pisces Ascendant who didn’t grow up displaying some sort of very artistic talent: acting, singing, writing, drawing, etc. And even if they don’t get into an artistic field as an adult, there is still that artist lying inside of them, eager to transcend to some new place in their fantasy life.

A lot of Pisces Rising people do end up doing something very artistic with their lives and they should. If the chart ruler is your life, fantasy-fueled Neptune means that you should be living the life of an artist. If you happen to have Neptune in the 10th ruling your chart, that’s even truer. Regardless, you are still going to be an artist. If there is one role you always play, that is it. And you do so because of that vast imagination and empathy that you possess. So, even if you’re not actually an actor or a performer, you are pretty much always performing. Again, it’s sort of similar to a Leo Rising. But, you are performing not for the applause, like them. You are performing in order to disappear. In some way or another, for you, life can be about finding ways to hide.

This can often be taken literally, as Pisces Rising folks are pretty notorious for falling off the face of the earth when they want to. Thanks to Neptune being your chart ruler, the new situations that life brings can easily overwhelm you. So, you often need the time to assimilate them and go at your own flow. It’s why being bombarded with texts and phone calls by your friends or family can get to be too much and you just want to turn off your phone for two days. Even if you are more consistently accessible, you can still take forever to respond to people’s demands, being that person who doesn’t text back until a few hours later or the next day. Sometimes, you’re just so caught up in something else that you don’t notice and sometimes, it’s just too much to handle at the moment.

Your elusiveness follows you throughout life. Just when people think they have you pegged, you switch into another role. It’s why each chapter of your life can be so vividly different. You’re like a Scorpio Rising, in this sense, except that they are shedding their old skins in order to become deeper, stronger, and wiser. You, however, are just hopping from one very different character to the next, as if you’re Meryl Streep or something. And it can often just be for the sake of doing it. Neptune is so open and so porous that you welcome just about any experience in. So, you try on many different skins just because you feel like it. I think this is essentially the purpose of being a Pisces Rising. You’re not supposed to be pinned down! Still, it’s important for you to know what you’re doing, so you don’t get too lost in this boundless range of behavior. If you can step into these characters more consciously, you will find yourself feeling less confused and more directed, knowing that you need to play that role in that given situation or at this time in your life.

Neptune’s house placement shows the ways in which you’ll find bliss through your role-playing. Neptune in the 8th would indicate that it would bring a deep sense of intimacy and introspection into your life while Neptune in the 11th shows that it will keep things unpredictable, help you make a difference, and also help you not be afraid to be different. The highly psychic, intuitive element of Neptune is also something that will strongly define your life. Getting plenty of sleep and keeping track of your dreams is a must for you. A significant part of your life will actually be lived out on this unconscious plane. Pisces Rising people find themselves having such vivid dreams that they feel like life. And real life is nothing but a dream to you, anyway. It’s through accessing your unconscious, intuitive side that you will find transcendence, not only through being in touch with your endless inner landscape but by knowing how to tap into others’.

You possess a very empathetic outlook. Yet, true to the shape-shifting quality of this placement, it emerges in many different ways with different Pisces Rising people. Some do seem obviously tenderhearted and compassionate, like the kind of person who’d give you their last dollar. Other Pisces Rising individuals are much better at hiding their empathy, to a degree where, if you’re going by stereotypes, you might question their Ascendant. You should never try to fit any placement into a box. But, this is especially true for Pisces Ascendants. Since Neptune, your chart ruler, is a planet that can empathize with anyone, you may express your empathy just through that ability to be someone else. This is another form of hiding out, as carrying yourself as someone who is more selfish, aggressive, feisty, or no-bullshit is a great way of concealing how much you actually feel for others and how easily you’re hurt. Unless there’s some sort of serious mental illness going on, the Pisces Ascendant is highly sensitive. They can just feel the need to fool themselves into thinking otherwise in order to survive or go along with the flow of a world that can be a bit insensitive.

This sensitivity can make you feel, in any given situation, like you’re being assaulted by everyone’s feelings and thoughts, like a telepath who cannot shut out the noise. Sometimes, you probably do feel like a telepath or a psychic. You need to trust those moments and find a certain grounding that will allow you to not feel so swamped by your environment. With Neptune ruling the chart, you must learn the difference between living life with no separation and living life with no boundaries. You must have boundaries, preventing you from falling prey to the cliché Pisces Rising direction of getting taken advantage of. But, viewing life from a perspective of there being no separation comes back to that sense of oneness with others, which makes being able to feel their thoughts and feelings a beautiful blessing, instead of an overwhelming, stressful curse.

Your “we are all one” approach to life shows why you are capable of making such an overwhelming impression on others, as well. Pisces Rising individuals appear to be everyone and no one, at the same time, which lends them a distinct aura of mystery. It’s a mysterious air that makes it difficult for others to put their finger on you because you just seem like someone that they already know: maybe in their past, maybe in a dream, maybe in another life. It’s a common thing for people with this placement to constantly get mistaken for someone else. If you had a nickel for every time someone said, “You look just like so-and-so”, you’d be rich. But, do you really look like them? Yes and no. If the Rising sign is your appearance, your physicality can easily morph into something else, almost like magic. It’s pretty spooky. But, you can look very different at different angles, in various lights, from a distance or up-close, glasses on or off, hair up or down, clean-shaven or not.

So, you will have an uncanny way of appearing to be many different people, often without realizing it. Neptune just does that. It’s also why you will look so ethereal. There is usually a strange beauty to Pisces Rising people. Neptune is, in many ways, a planet of beauty. Not Venus’ beauty, which is more so about earthly forms of attractiveness. Neptune is unearthly and there is something quite beautiful and also quite unsettling about it. Therefore, Pisces Rising folks have that look about them, as if they’re some lovely creature from another planet. It’s an otherworldly kind of attractiveness, which can make some with this placement stunningly pretty and others just as stunning but in an unusual sort of way. The fact that it’s so effortless, as you take to your appearance with a certain carelessness or free-spirited ease, only strengthens the impact.

With this Ascendant, something about you is just untouchable and inaccessible; sometimes, through your own doing and sometimes, in other people’s eyes. It’s why being a Pisces Ascendant is a rather lonely life, at times, and you get very used to spending time alone. Because you’re like a character straight out of a movie, it is hard for you to fully integrate with “real life.” Not just through practical, regular routines, which many with this placement resist, but just by being totally accessible to others. We watch characters in the movies and empathize with them. They can feel like a part of our lives. But, in the end, they’re not. They’re out of our grasp. So, you can feel just as out of reach, at times, even to your close friends. Yet, you’re okay with this. Life, for you, is to be lived as if you’re in another world. While this does sometimes require you to get a reality check, it also means that you are constantly straddling these two worlds. And when you temporarily enter the one that everyone else inhabits, you bring back something magical for other people to enjoy.

Jupiter, meanwhile, is your secondary chart ruler. Jupiter is the planet of limitless belief and I feel like, in its negative form, it can support the delusions of your Pisces Ascendant. Jupiter believes even when people try to sway it to the other side of the fence. So, if you are letting Jupiter get a negative upper hand, you will insist on clinging to your delusions: about life, other people, and your place in life. Jupiter’s house placement can show how this will play out. If Jupiter’s in the 3rd House, false beliefs and warped facts will regularly come out of your mouth and distort your thinking. If Jupiter’s in the 4th House, your personal life can become hindered by this deception. And during your Jupiter Return, which occurs once every 12 years, this will really hit the fan.

Therefore, it’s important to focus more on Neptune’s fluid, nonjudgmental nature. Jupiter can be very dogmatic and self-righteous. Yet, Neptune knows the truth is all relative and that no man has room to judge. It can be surprising to see a Pisces Ascendant in judgmental mode, given the descriptions. If they are, they are letting their Jupiter undercut their intentions. But, your dominant ruler is Neptune. So, you must release all judgments and biases, which will allow your nonlinear perspective on life to simply be an expression of spiritual awareness. Then, during your Jupiter Return, you can experience the benefits of being a believer in a healing way, whether it’s through your communication (3rd House), your private life (4th House), or wherever Jupiter is in your chart.

North Node in Capricorn: The Responsible Soul

***Also for if you have North Node in the 10th House

Having the North Node in Capricorn in your chart means that you are supposed to evolve throughout life by getting your act together. This is a lifetime that needs to be about true responsibility for you, which is why I call you the responsible soul. Finding deep fulfillment within is going to come from developing self-sufficiency and self-discipline. When you can figure out the right guidelines and structures to live your life by, you will be on the right track. Like with the other Earthy North Nodes (Virgo and Taurus), your spiritual growth is actually going to be a very practical thing. It’s going to come from embracing the positives of ambition and achievement. Your highest soul-expression motivates you to set respectable goals and work hard to make them a reality.

Yet, with the South Node in Cancer, you have got to deal with your inner craziness before you can feel effective enough to achieve these goals. Our South Node is what holds us back from living out and fulfilling our North Node. So, it’s all about a balance here. The wonderful thing about having a Cancer South Node is how naturally sensitive, intuitive, and responsive you are. You possess a really ingrained care for other people, even if you might not always want to show it. The downside of this placement is that it can make you too defensive or too insecure for your own good. When unbalanced, your nature can become really irrational and needy, causing you to emotionally drain other people as well as yourself. You have accumulated a lot of karmic debt in terms of letting your feelings overwhelm you and also in regards to being too enmeshed with your loved ones, to the point where you have no satisfying life of your own outside of them.

These are issues that have defined your past life. The South Node can either be your most recent past life or a very recent one. In this former existence, you were deeply invested in your personal life. There was a big-time emphasis on family in this life, which you took to seamlessly because it brought out your nurturing, protective, domestic sensibilities. South Node in Cancer individuals put their families before everything in this last life. At the same time, this was a major part of the problem. Making your loved ones your top priority means that you didn’t find much purpose elsewhere. I feel like a lot of Cancer South Node people were stay-at-home mothers/wives or fathers/husbands in their former lifetime. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. But, I think the problem was that you felt enslaved in that role of the homemaker. You didn’t develop any strong ambitions of your own, instead leaving it to your spouse to bring home the bacon.

I can also see this being a major dynamic in your family of origin. You could’ve been the one who always needed to be taken care of and protected, well into adulthood. This eventually resulted in emotional immaturity, stunting you and preventing you from regulating your emotions and needs properly. A terrible moodiness developed in this life, especially if your family just “let you be” when you were feeling crabby or nutty because they were so used to your irrational ways. You could spend a ton of time just brooding over your feelings and how you’ve been hurt or wounded. A virtual addiction to those turbulent emotions developed and you turned into that person who just had to be constantly upset about something, instead of actually, you know, doing something about the situation. This only reinforced the notion that you needed to be taken care of.

However, you might have also spent a lot of time taking care of other people, to a degree where your emotions and needs were actually neglected, only magnifying your sense of vulnerability and insecurity. With Cancer South Node people, their past life self fell into either category: always being protected or always protecting other people. It stemmed from deeply ingrained habits. Whatever role you played in your family, you played it to the hilt. If you were “the baby” of the family, you remained the baby all your life. If you were “the oldest”, you always acted like the oldest. Also, if you were the funny child, the screw-up child, the beautiful child, the brainy child, etc., you remained that child until the day you died. Being unable to break free of that familial role is something that really hindered your adult relationships, as well as your bond with your children. I think it would be very rare to see a Cancer South Node who wasn’t a parent in their last life. And although you were so sensitive and caring, you could’ve really smothered your children, especially since you project the same expectations on to them that your parents did to you.

Repeating the cycle in a particularly unhealthy way is a major part of your spiritual baggage that you’ve carried over into this life. Those issues were not resolved in your former life. So, now, they are your unsettled business. Because of the unconscious element of the Water signs, I think that people with their South Node in Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) feel their past-life burdens much more heavily and profoundly than most people. Because of that, you probably believe in past lives, especially since Cancer is so connected to the past. Even if you don’t, these are still issues that have strongly affected your past in this life. All of what I just said is how you’ve lived out your past in this current lifetime, in one way or another. Your nature has remained way too crystallized in your childhood self and who you’ve always been in your family. This has prevented you from truly understanding who you could be in the greater world. You can also get far too wrapped up in your emotional reactions and needs, either experiencing terrible dependency and instability or a real sense of emptiness and neglect because of these pressing feelings.

We all have to have a breakthrough period in life where we realize that our South Node just isn’t working for us anymore, which prepares us to embrace our North Node. As long as we remain over-focused on the South Node, it won’t get us anywhere. So, as long as you remain moody, co-dependent, reactive, and a creature of conditioning, you are going to continue to feel stagnant. Yet, I feel like it takes a lot to push Cancer South Node people out of their comfort zone, much like with Taurus South Node folks. In order to begin moving toward your Capricorn North Node, you have to “wake up” a bit harder than the next person, realizing that these habits and reactions of yours are just doing you no good. It’s my opinion that people don’t start really fulfilling their North Node until their late 20’s or early 30’s, at least, as it is a side of yourself that emerges with maturity. But, with this placement, which makes real maturity feel like a struggle, you might remain in a state of arrested development with your North Node. That comfort zone feels so warm and cozy, in spite of the fact that it doesn’t really fulfill you. It also feels like it’s essential to your very survival.

So, rising above and transforming your South Node in Cancer feels a lot like leaving home, which is really difficult for you. Literally leaving home is often very scary for you. Many with this placement do live at home longer than most. Even if you move out of your parents’ place, it’s a major deal to actually leave your hometown. Being willing to step away from what’s familiar and create a new structure is the key to unlocking your Capricorn North Node. Then, you will be able to access and develop your knack for making the rules and following them with diligence. Instead of being coddled by someone else or expending too much of your energy into being a caregiver for others, you need to focus on being a boss. This means not only calling the shots and assuming control but doing so in a way that allows you to not treat the people around you like babies. You need to make your interactions with others less about coddling and more about directing, sometimes even commanding. You cannot be afraid to get tough with others when you need to because, in the end, you’ll be doing it for their own good.

Yet, this is where your nurturing touch is required. North Node in Capricorn people have the good fortune of being able to be authoritative and firm without coming off as hardened or cold, which can be the possible negative outcome of just having the Sun or the Moon in Capricorn. You have to transform your South Node, and not leave it behind, by using your sensitivity to understand just what the rules and regulations need to be. In this sense, your intuition can be put to efficient use. You can then know just how to engage with other people in a manner that will keep things operating effectively and that will be for everyone’s benefit.

Your higher self knows the power of a bit of needed tough love, making you realize when to stand your ground with people, instead of being so adrift in the current of their emotions. A show of tears or a sob story from someone else can easily melt those with this placement, making them forget their original aim and suddenly “go soft.” Now, I’m not saying you should stop caring about people’s feelings. But, what you should care most about is your integrity and your goals because these things will end up bringing you true satisfaction. So, don’t be so gentle or so understanding that you forget the entire objective of what you’re doing. If it so happens that it hurts someone’s feelings a bit, don’t let that affect you too much. Just know that you are a truly caring, giving person and that you’re just doing what needs to be done. Also, let the other person know that. Even if they do walk away feeling resentful or hurt, just know that they will move on. Feelings come and go. The emotional intensity of your Cancer South Node makes you forget that, sometimes. So, the thought of possibly hurting someone is made out to be worse than it really needs to be.

Your soul yearns to be in a position of authority, to be seen as a respectable role model and example for other people. And any good authority figure knows that integrity, strength, and a solid vision are required in order to get the job done. With the North Node in Capricorn, you always have to see yourself as “on the job”, whether you’re literally working or not. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing. You must see it through from beginning to end with a sort of professional spirit. In doing so, you will be able to become a boss wherever you go, winning people’s respect through the seriousness of your efforts. The South Node in Cancer makes you inherently relaxed and fluid; a go-with-the-flow type. So, luckily, you won’t take anything too seriously. But, you’ll be able to work off of that natural feeling of internal comfort in order to create external structures that not only lead to your success but to the success of other people around you.

Pursuing success is an important part of your spiritual development. Capricorn North Node people can be haunted by this sense of “not being ready” for their goals. You have all of these ambitions inside of you. In the past, you’ve been very passive and very willing to just allow things to happen. But, a part of you has unconsciously developed, in reaction to this, by coming up with grand schemes for the future. It’s just much easier for you to be this very instinctual creature of the moment. Unfortunately for you, listening to your gut rarely pays off, at least not when that’s the only inner voice you’re listening to. Don’t totally ignore what your instincts are telling you. But, it can’t be your guiding force. You need to be following a strong game plan when you’re moving forward in any situation. Learning how to be reasonably calculating is beneficial for you. Otherwise, you’re just left with a giant mess on your hands. No business can function without a sense of organization and strategy. The North Node in Capricorn is challenging you to handle your business, in all definitions of the word.

You will be on the right track when you can develop recognition for your skills, accomplishments, and contributions, which will translate most strongly into your professional life and social status. It’s going to require a lot of conscious effort, though. More than most people, Capricorn North Node individuals are very guilty of sabotaging themselves just before they reach success. In many ways, your Cancer South Node can keep you like a child, forever in a state of dreaming about who you want to be when you grow up. Then, when you get to that stage of becoming that person, it’s too much to handle. You don’t want to grow up now! Yet, you can still be saying that into your 30’s and 40’s. It’s important for you to understand that realizing your life goals and ambitions is actually going to sustain you emotionally. Those with this placement are often emotional wrecks unless their career is in a good place. If all those feelings have nowhere to go, they can consume you and drive you absolutely mad. So, if you approach your ambitions through the nurturing instincts of your South Node in Cancer, you will feel a powerful motivation to achieve because you will understand how good it is for you and how much that sense of success is a comfort food for your soul.

Through the Capricorn North Node, a pursuit of success becomes something that resonates on that deep soul level, instead of being an empty display of ruthlessness or opportunism. You feel enlightened when you realize that you have something important to contribute to your community and society as a whole. A strong sense of responsibility will then develop. Again, it’s not just in terms of your profession. You will feel fulfilled through being responsible enough to have integrity, to be committed, and to be someone worth looking up to. The more you evolve as a person, the more other people will realize how important your contributions are. A certain level of fame can even stem from this. In this extent, the feeling of intimacy and support that your Cancer South Node fosters will pay off. You understand the human soul on a deep level and, therefore, you are capable of interacting with the world at large in a manner that makes everyone feel touched by you. But, at the same time, you can provide this support within certain professional or social parameters.

In the past, too much of your energy has been expended on your personal life and your loved ones. Now, your public life has to be your top priority. This doesn’t mean that you cannot have a family or you should forget about your family. It just means that you cannot be held back by your family anymore, on any level. Do not let them dictate or influence your decisions in life, which is a particularly hard habit for those with a Capricorn North Node to break. You are in charge of your life now. Also, do not get too sucked into the family dynamics, as this makes you regress back to the days of being 12 years old. Do not be chained to the expectations that come with being a Smith or a Harris or whatever your family name is. You don’t have to be what they want you or need you to be. You are unleashing the vision within to be whoever you want to be. So, as much as you may love them, a certain distance from them is probably required. Capricorn North Node people often find it very life-changing to move far away from their families and just stay in touch and only visit on special occasions. This will grant you the freedom to live your own life the way you choose it.

Yet, this will also require you to take true responsibility for your actions. A part of you will always be highly emotional and rather crazy. There’s nothing you can do about that. But, you can do something with those feelings. This not only means sublimating that anger, sadness, fear, or pain into your work, finding great success even when your private life is a total mess. It also means seeing it as your duty to regulate those emotions, instead of letting them just run wild. You have to diligently do whatever you can to manage your inner child. Listening to this side of yourself will also help you delve into your issues. A ton of unresolved emotions from childhood is the signature of the Cancer South Node.

But, of course, you’re not a kid anymore and you are also not your parent(s). Yet, few people are more horrified than you to wake up, as adults, and realize that they are living exactly in the same kind of household that they grew up in. Use the dedication and perseverance of your Capricorn North Node to become much more than your past, working through all of the insecurities, fears, defenses, and inner messages needed to get there. This also means that you cannot blame your parents or anyone else from your past for your issues. You’ve got to discipline yourself to overcome them and manifest the successful adult life that you want to live. You can end up experiencing great healing through having children of your own, if you use your bond with them as a guide to figure out if you’re on the right track or just repeating handed-down patterns.

Uranus in the Houses: Find Your Freedom

Both Jupiter and Uranus are what I would call the “freedom planets” of the birth chart. It’s in the houses where one’s Jupiter and Uranus fall that you will feel the most liberated. But, while Jupiter’s form of freedom sends you on an adventure and makes everything a grand discovery, Uranus’ version of freedom is more about freedom of thought, instead of freedom of action. It’s in your Uranus house that you can fully detach from expectations and develop your own independent-minded ideas about the concerns of that house. Because of this, you will not be very concerned with what other people think in regards to the life area of that house.

I keep talking about the house because Uranus is a distant outer planet, along with Neptune and Pluto. While Jupiter and Saturn are intermediate outer planets, meaning that the sign is going to be felt as personally as the house, there is nothing personal about the sign that Uranus is in. It stays in that sign for seven years, so it’s not going to be a unique placement. At the same time, Uranus’ house placement is going to be experienced on a very personal level for you and can help you experience the uniqueness of this planet. And Uranus loves its uniqueness! Also, of course, you’re going to have to consider aspects because this is how Uranus will express itself in your life. But, the house placement is where it’s going to express itself.

It will end up turning everything upside down in this house’s domain, in order for you to find that free-thinking sensibility here. Uranus has zero expectations and you are supposed to have no expectations when it comes to your Uranus house’s principles. In this regard, you will be able to rebel against other people’s expectations of you in this life area. More of the focus will be placed on how you can use the brilliance that you experience here in order to benefit other people. Everyone is capable of a certain brilliance: thinking outside the box, coming up with something new, defying norms and regulations for the sake of a greater ideal. And it’s through your Uranus’ house that you can bring your inner genius to life. It’s also where anything can happen and where there is no such thing as a dull moment.

Uranus in the 1st House
Behavioral freedom. Do what you want and when you want to do it. You must resist the expectations of people within just about any given situation. This also means that you must have zero expectations when it comes to life itself. Just live and let live. Experiment and see what happens. Your role in life is of the livewire, capable of doing anything and at anytime.

Uranus in the 2nd House
Financial freedom. Make your own money in the way you want to make it. Do not give into pressures to try and hold down a predictable way of making income. Find experimental, unique ways to earn money and also stay detached from a boring obsession with the material. This attitude will manifest a greater cash flow in your life, boosting your overall pleasure and self-esteem.

Uranus in the 3rd House
Intellectual freedom. You are truly being pushed to think for yourself and in an unusual manner. Your mind can feel like it’s undergoing an endless brainstorm, filling you with all sorts of exciting ideas. Share these ideas openly with others, even if they think they’re weird, shocking, or unacceptable. Be that independent thinker; the kind of conversationalist who electrifies others.

Uranus in the 4th House
Private freedom. You are only going to feel safe and supported when your personal space is turned upside down. Home is not home for you unless things are quite eccentric and crazy. But, there is a very comfortable rhythm to this madness and you thrive on it, even if it unnerves your loved ones. Behind closed doors, you are a maverick and often feel like the odd one out in your family.

Uranus in the 5th House
Creative freedom. When you live in the moment, you completely throw the rule book out the window. Your creative energy is quite rebellious and unconventional. You possess a detached sort of passion that can stand back and coolly observe the drama of life unfold, all while still getting heatedly involved. You’re very hot-and-cold in matters of the heart, needing a lot of loving space.

Uranus in the 6th House
Constructive freedom. You want to get things done in your own unusual way, experimenting with various routines. There is a method to your madness or a madness to your method, which can confuse others. You may seem to “wing it” even when you’re really calculated or vice versa. You will rebel against others’ advice unless it’s truly practical and has been tested as being so by you.

Uranus in the 7th House
Relational freedom. In your personal connections with other people, you do not want to be controlled or suffocated. You are looking for a real give-and-take of independence and tolerance in love and friendship. You make for a rather eccentric companion and are attracted to eccentric companions. The approval of others in terms of your friends and lovers means nothing to you.

Uranus in the 8th House
Profound freedom. When you go deep with someone or with yourself, you do not judge whatever is exposed. This makes you very tolerant when being intimate or introspective. But, you might sometimes thrive on the chaos of the darkness. You may remain detached and nonchalant about your emotional issues. But, you are also brilliantly capable of being your own therapist.

Uranus in the 9th House
Philosophical freedom. You must develop a moral compass that is not reliant on anyone else’s issues. You can rebel against the convictions of others by insisting on your own. It’s liberating and inspiring for you to not have to follow a typical path in life. You are on your own unpredictable journey, so you must become this explorer who welcomes the weirdness around the corner.

Uranus in the 10th House
Professional freedom. It is your mission to make a living and a calling out of being a free spirit. You have to pursue the goals in life that you really think are worthwhile, instead of surrendering to society’s expectations, building your reputation as a nonconformist. Career success will be highly unexpected, in its coming and going. Your ideal profession feels like an endless experiment.

Uranus in the 11th House
Universal freedom. You are not just freeing yourself but freeing everyone around you. By releasing all expectations, you’re not only welcoming the random, unusual elements of life your way but giving others free reign to be individuals. This makes you a full-on individual in all of your quirkiness. Yet, you are an excellent collaborator, with a very progressive, brilliant view of the big picture.

Uranus in the 12th House
Spiritual freedom. You must detach from conventional expectations of humanity and the Higher Power, understanding how weird we all can be and how unpredictable the Universe is. Your own eccentricities work in mysterious ways, through a genius insight into alternative forms of spirituality, wild and erratic fantasies/dreams, and/or artistic talents that are from another planet.
